Around the Leagues: May 17-19

In this week’s Around the Leagues report, we review how senior Wales internationals have been getting on with their club sides around the world.

Elliot Kear and Rhys Williams both starred for London Broncos in their 42-34 victory over Wakefield Trinity, who named former Wales captain Craig Kopczak on the bench. Williams also grabbed two tries for the Broncos.

Ben Flower started for Wigan Warriors in their 33-16 defeat at Catalans Dragons, who hosted the match on-the-road at Barcelona’s Nou Camp.

Regan Grace and Morgan Knowles both featured for St Helens in their 32-30 comeback win over Salford Red Devils, who had try-scorer Gil Dudson in their side. It was also Knowles’ 100thclub appearance for Saints.

At the Championship’s Summer Bash in Blackpool, Jake Emmitt had a run-out for Leigh Centurions in their 36-22 success over Widnes Vikings. 

Matt James started for Sheffield Eagles in their 30-18 victory over Barrow Raiders.

Mike Butt, Rhodri Lloyd and Gavin Bennion all featured for Swinton Lions in their 40-30 win over Rochdale Hornets, with Butt and Lloyd both getting on the scoresheet. 

Chester Butler, Dan Fleming and Connor Davies starred for Halifax in their 21-14 success over John Kear’s Bradford Bulls, who had try-scorer Dalton Grant on the wing. Butler has recently signed a three-year contract with Super League club Huddersfield Giants ahead of the 2020 campaign.

In League 1, meanwhile, Rob Massam grabbed a try for North Wales Crusaders in their 28-14 defeat to Whitehaven.

Sam Hopkins started for Workington Town in their 12-4 victory over Hunslet.
