SW CONFERENCE PREVIEW

BIG CATS TIGERS AND COUGARS LOCK CLAWS ON SATURDAY WHILE THE BOARS AND TITANS GO HEAD-ON ON THE BORDER

FIXTURES FOR SATURDAY JUNE 1

Torfaen Tigers v Valley Cougars (kick-off: 2.30pm at The Kings Head Ground, Cwmbran)

Borderer Boars v Newport Titans (kick-off: 2pm at Chepstow RFC, Lower Western Avenue)

TORFAEN Tigers will be aiming to steal a march on Bonymaen Broncos at the head of the South Wales Conference on Saturday as former champions Valley Cougars enter the King's Head Ground, Cwmbran.

The Tigers have been on good form this season, having defeated both Borderer Boars and Newport Titans in the first two rounds.

But Valley Cougars are after revenge for their loss to the Broncos a fortnight ago and, as their team gets into the swing of things for the campaign and some have already put their hands up at the Coast v Country Origin Game last Sunday for international place, this could go either way.

There is another Gwent derby as well on Saturday as Borderer Boars entertain Newport Titans at Chepstow RFC's ground on Lower Western Avenue, Bulwark.

Both sides will be keen for a victory to boost their chances of a Grand Final place even at this early stage of the season. The Titans have experience in last week's Origin Game Man of the Match Rhys Meredith but the Boars may fancy their chances after playing two big guns in Torfaen away and Cardiff Demons at home in the opening rounds.

The derby at Chepstow kicks-off at 2pm while the Tigers v Cougars lock claws at 2.30pm
