GET READY FOR JUNIOR CONFERENCE KICK-OFF

THE SOUTH Wales Junior Conference kicks off on Sunday May 26 with Under-18s and Under-16s leagues being added to the established Under-15s, Under-14s and Under-13s. There will also be friendlies at Under-12s and Under-10s.

 

Penallta Storm Under-17s champions move up to the new Under-18s category will start as favourites for the title.

 

Penallta Sorm Under-15s champions move up to the new Under-16s category and will look to continue their outstanding success

 

The Panthers, who were last year’s Under-14s champions, will look to claim the Under-15s crown that the Storm will relinquish this season.

 

Retaining the titles will not be easy as new teams Whitehead Warriors (Newport), Newport Titans, Cardiff Demons, Valley Cougars, Mumbles RL, will join the Aber Valley Wolves, Bonymaen Broncos, Cardiff Spartans, GA Giants, Gower Gladiators, Gwent Chiefs, Monmouthshire Meteors, Neath Scorpions, NPT Steelers, South Gower Rebels, Swansea Valley Rhinos, Treharris Phoenix are in the quest for the prestigious crowns as well.

 

Speaking at the South Wales Junior Conference launch at Sport Wales, Cardiff, Mark Jones, WRL National Development Manager, said “The interest in Junior Rugby League is at an all-time high, with many new clubs being established and new age categories added, our target is to have 50 teams playing this year.

 

“It is exciting times for the sport in Wales with the Rugby League World Cup opening ceremony at Cardiff, which all our clubs will be able to be involved. The standard of rugby league is increasing and bodes well for the future of our game.”
