DEMONS READY FOR BATTLE

OLD RIVALS BRIDGEND ARE FIRST FOR THE CARDIFF SIDE

CARDIFF DEMONS will turn their hard pre-season training into practice on Sunday when they meet old rivals Bridgend Blue Bulls in the opening round of this summer's South Wales Conference at St Peters RFC.

The two teams are original members of the Conference which began ten years ago and have fought some great battles over that period.

And this season will be no different as both want to get off to a flying start. Demons Chairman Idris Evans said "To be playing the Bulls at home so early on in the season gives us a great opportunity for an early win, we've had a great preseason led by new coaches Neil Dallimore and Phil Carleton.  The enthusiasm in the camp is really high at the moment, with 25 players available this weekend, competition for places is going to be tough this year".

Elsewhere, Valley Cougars, back playing at Treharris and winners of last weekend's Scott McRorie Nines, face Blackwood Bulldogs, with the Cougars hoping for a good win before facing Conference champions Bonymaen Broncos away next weekend.

Newport Titans are at the Broncos on Sunday while Torfaen Tigers, another of the original teams, are home to the newest side in the Conference, Borderer Boars, who also showed up well in the Nines, at Cwmbran RFC.
