TORFAEN TIGERS ROAR BACK
SOUTH WALES CONFERENCE FOUNDER MEMBERS RETURN AND AIM FOR AN EXCITING SEASON
TORFAEN Tigers, one of the founder members of the Wales Rugby League's South Wales Senior Conference, are back after a year out.
The Tigers were formed in 2003, with Kevin Weaver as coach and containing players like Damian Hudd, Jason Hill, Nolan Nicklin, Mike Davies and Matthew Entwhistle in the squad over the years.
In their first year of existence, the Tigers reached the National Conference Plate Final, losing to East Hull and, in the process, becoming one of the last teams to play on Warrington's Wilderspool ground before the Sue pr League club moved out.
Now, after taking a break for 2012, there have been changes at Torfaen
Rob Davies has become the new chairman, with Tony Davies as vice-chair, James Price acting as treasurer and Sally Davies as secretary.
They have also moved ground from Pontypool United RFC to Cwmbran RFC's Kings Head Ground, have a new website under construction and a new club badge courtesy of PaulHartPhotography.co.uk
Rob Davies said: “Despite making huge progress on the field at both senior and junior levels in 2010 and 2011 myself and outgoing chairman Scott Bendon decided that the infrastructure at the club was unsustainable so decided to take a break last year to rebuild the to ensure its long term sustainability."
Davies added: “We would like to thank the outgoing committee of Scott Bendon, Sue Jenkins and Kate Bendon for their hard work over the past few years and likewise thank Pontypool Utd RFC for their hospitality. We would also like to thank Cwmbran RFC for agreeing to host us this year and we are all looking forward to the exciting new chapter in the clubs existence."
