HALF-BACK Courtney Davies will captain Wales Under-18s this Saturday as they look to kick-off their November Test series with a victory against Scotland at Queensway Sports Stadium, Wrexham (KO: 2.30pm).

Davies was one of four players in the teenage squad who were mixing it with the seniors during the Autumn International Series against France and England that has just passed.

The quartet will have benefited from their involvement with the seniors and head coach Barry Eaton is confident of a big game from the Welsh on Saturday before they take on England at Leigh Sports Village the following weekend.

Eaton said: "We have four players who have been involved in the seniors structure and who have gained some valuable experience.

"We held an Open Trial recently and that went very well. There were 53 players registered and the talent on show was really exciting.

"There are some players who have just missed out for this match but could come into the reckoning in future months.

"This tournament will be serving as a process for the pathway structures to put players in place to support the seniors towards the World Cup next year."

As for the game with Scotland, he said: "I think that, in this international, Wales will be slight favourites but we know that Scotland will be enthusiastic.

"It will be a test of composure more than anything else. We have this game against Scotland and then the game against England and these will be real benchmarks for us.

"Scotland are in a similar phase of development as Wales but I think we will be able to put things in place this week for this match and then build for next week."

Wing Alex Jones and prop Osian Phillips both had experience with the Wales seniors in October, while forward Rhys Pugsley made his senior debut against France in Lens on his 18th birthday.
