BIG BEN READY TO STRIKE HARD

WELSH PACK ACE THINKS WALES CAN GIVE THE NATION HIS BROTHER PLAYS FOR A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY

BIG BEN Evans wants Wales to have a great 'chime' and lay down a marker for the nation ahead of the World Cup against the country his brother has opted to join.

Rhys Evans could have been a Welsh star in Saturday's clash at the Glyndwr University Racecourse but instead he is now playing for England.

His brother at Warrington, though, has stayed true to the Land of his Fathers and will want to add to his debut last Saturday against France with an appearance at home in Wrexham for the biggest match of his life so far.

Evans wants Wales to increase their intensity on Saturday although playing for his country for the first time was a real experience.

He added: "It was really good to make my debut for the team and I really did enjoy it although we lost."

So many players in any sport making their debut can say that they cannot remember much about it all, but Evans is different.

"I remember that the first half was good up to 30 minutes and we really just didn't concentrate for the last ten minutes of the first half. That is where they scored their three tries.

"We showed a lot of desire and passion in the second-half and, although the game was all but lost in the last ten minutes, we kept them out.

"We did really well in our defence but we gave away too much ball and we can't defend like we did for the whole game. This week, we will respect the ball more and, if we complete our sets as well, we won't have to do so much defending.

"England have got a few injuries but we still need to work 100 per cent for each other and hopefully it will be a really good game."
