Ystalyfera powered into the National semi-finals of the Champions Schools with a convincing victory at Derby RFC.  A solid forward effor, from the Blue Bulls pack, laid the foundations for their success and the backs made full use of their opportunities to defy their highly rated Leeds-based opponents.

Skipper Connor Davies, a member of the Wales under-16s team, was in outstanding form, scoring two tries and making a total of 21 carries.  Second row Steffan Blake also crossed twice, in a man-of-the–match display, and there were tries for centre Connor Davies and debutant winger Dan Griffin.  Luc Williams added four goals.

Prop Rhys Bowden led a solid defensive effort with 14 tackles as the Swansea Valley side maintained an impressive intensity throughout.  The final scoreline flattered the Yorkshire school and Ystalyfera will hope to continue the good form in the semi-final on the 23rd of May.
