Conference Report 2011 Week 10

Titans achieve playoff place with highest win of the season

CONFERENCE PREMIER

TITANS 72 - 20 TORFAEN TIGERS

An excellent win for the Titans ensures them a playoff match against Valley Cougars 'A' for the right to play the undefeated Bridgend Blue Bulls in the 2011 Premier Grand Final.

Report by Earl Palmer at Machen RFC

The local derby between the titans and the tigers always serves up a physical encounter. It is an intense rivalry with many players who know one another going head to head. Todays game although scrappy at times was played at high speed with a lot of intensity. Attack was definately the winner in the first ten minutes with the titans and tigers exchanging scores and both defenses on the back foot. After a frantic opening the titans got a foot hold and started to play some decent rugby league. At the half the score was 40 v 12 to the titans. The second half was a stop start affair with both teams making mistake after mistake. There was some decent rugby played by both sides however as tries were run in from all over the pitch. The full time score was 72 v 20 to the titans with stand out performances from debutant full back sean jones who scored twice, jarad hinem who scored a hatrick and nathan "baby hands" bird who carried the ball well. For the tigers darryl carter ran things and the carter twins carried the ball well at centre.
