Bears youth win two in 48 hours

CPC Bears' under 18 sides went against the odds and secured two wins

CPC Bears' under 18 sides went against the odds and secured two wins in less than 48 hours after beating Warrington Rylands Sharks 48-10 in glorious sunshine on Sunday afternoon at Ammanford Recreation Ground.

The Carmarthen-based side had previously secured a narrow 29-22 away victory at the Racecourse Wrexham in the rain on Friday evening over North Wales Crusaders Juniors.

The Bears youth showed their maturity during both games. In Wrexham they played a controlled game keeping the ball well in the poor conditions and kicking when opportunities came their way converting all four of their tries, along with both penalties awarded within kickable range and a well taken drop goal for good measure.

Then on Sunday in excellent conditions played an open game showing good hands and excellent speed to finish a number of flowing moves which the visiting defence found very difficult to handle.

The Bears also defended well dominating the opposition in the tackle area resulting in numerous turnovers. The result means the West Wales side completed the season double over the visitors.

With a squad of 22 to cover the 2 games, ten players took part in both, showing excellent fitness levels and stamina along with adaptability to the conditions.
