Monmouth make 2011 Year 10 quarter finals

East Wales year 10 Champions Monmouth Comprehensive School sailed into

East Wales year 10 Champions and Welsh runners-up Monmouth Comprehensive School sailed into the Carnegie Champions Schools British Quarter Finals with an emphatic 44-12 win over Essex-based Brentwood College.

Monmouth set there stall out early on with solid defence preventing Brentwood escaping their own 20 metre area with any of there opening three sets. As solid as the defence was ,it was the high tempo high risk attack with numerous offloads that thrilled the crowd of 200 fellow pupils.

The game was over as a contest by half time, with Monmouth having built an insurmountable 28-0 lead.

Scorers for Monmouth were hooker Joe Light who bagged a hat-trick, Jack Vaughan whose five goals and a try meant he landed a personal haul of 14 points, a try a-piece for Dan Dunmore, Jack Williams, Ryan Lee and Cai Jones with Morgan Paley adding a further goal.

Monmouth will face a much sterner test when Huddersfield school Colne Valley come to town next week.

Monmouth's conquerors in the Welsh Final, Maesydderwen, played their Quarter Final this week against Sirius Acad of Hull and were unlucky to lose 26-22.
