Bennion: "9s is going to be a lot quicker and tougher"
Wales forward Gavin Bennion is looking forward to "competing against some of the best players" at the 9s World Cup.
25-year-old Bennion, who currently has four caps for Wales, was included in John Kear's 16-man squad for the 9s World Cup earlier today.
After a solid campaign with Swinton Lions in the Championship in 2019, boasting an impressive try-scoring rate for a forward with nine tries, he is excited to get involved with a new concept.
"9s is going to be a lot quicker and tougher, but I think we’ll cope fine," Bennion said.
"We’ll be competing against some of the best players in the World Cup so it's going to be a great opportunity for us.
"When you look through our squad, we may not have as many Super League players as some of the other nations, but that doesn't mean anything.
"We've got players who have been playing very well at a good level.
"We've got lads who played for Halifax against Saints, pushing them all the way, and others who were in the Bradford side that beat Leeds.
"We played brilliantly together last year with quite a young squad and we're aiming to build on that at the 9s World Cup.
"There's nothing better than doing what you love doing over in Sydney."
