WRL ready for a busy month of January

Wales Rugby League are preparing for a busy month of January, with Champion Schools, student matches, a match officials course and Welsh student international trials all on the agenda.


This month, there is a match officials course, the Champions Schools’ year 11 national rounds take place with Glantaf and Aberdare representing Wales, the BUCS Western 1A continues with Cardiff Met, Swansea University, University of South Wales and Aberystwyth taking part in Welsh derbies during the month, with Coleg Y Cymoedd taking part in the National Knock-Out Cup as well playing in friendly matches. In addition, WRL lend their support to Torfaen Tigers, who play in the Challenge Cup first round.

As well as this WRL are holding their annual Students trials and whilst the registrations have been coming in fast, there is still time to register your interest.

Trialists need to send their details through to Wales Rugby League before Friday 18 January for the north trial and Friday 25 January for the south trial.

Evidence of eligibility to play for Wales must also be proved. For Wales Students, players must either be born in Wales, have Welsh parents or grandparents or must be studying full-time at a Welsh education establishment.

Trialists must be aged 17 or over by September 1 2019.



January 20, Deeside Leisure Centre, 10.30am meet and admin, trials from 11am until 1pm.

January 27, Caerphilly Centre of Sporting Excellence, Ystrad Mynach 2.30pm meet and admin, trials from 3pm until 5pm.
