Evans targeting result against Scotland

Ben Evans believes Wales' European Championship clash and 2021 Rugby League World Cup qualifier with Scotland on Friday night is a must-win.

After losing to France in their opening match of the tournament, Wales travel to Galashiels to take on the Scottish.

"These next two games are must-wins," Evans said.

"We believe we can qualify for the World Cup and I think it's a case of building a bit of confidence in the squad.

"We want to put in a good performance against Scotland and go into the last game on a high."

On Wales' performance against France, Evans said: "It was a tough game.

"France have a lot of experience in their squad and we've got quite a young squad.

"Discipline let us down and I don't think it matters who we play. We need to concentrate on ourselves.

"There were parts of the game we dominated, but we need to do that for more than 20 minutes. That will come with experience and game management."

Evans has had a solid season with London Broncos, helping them secure promotion back to Super League through the Qualifiers.

He has carried over his form to the international scene as he put in a solid display over in France.

"I'm one of the more senior lads so I want to be as loud as possible and lead from the front," he said.

"There are a couple of boys who've made their debuts and I think they've all come in and done well.

"As a young squad, if we do qualify for the World Cup, these lads will have three or four years more experience and that's really exciting."

Wales' clash with Scotland at 7.30pm on Friday night will be streamed live on the BBC Sport.
