Torfaen Tigers drew level with Valley Cougars at the top of the Welsh Premier League table after earning a hard-fought win against Rhondda Outlaws.

Despite it being just a two-try victory for the away side, the game was really a lot closer. Torfaen, who were 18-10 up at half-time, capitalised on a number of Outlaws’ errors for their tries.

David Thomas, Matt Williams and Sam Taylor scored for the Tigers before the break with Dai Thomas converting all three. Lee Griffiths and Jackson Huntley replied for Rhondda with Chris Harris converting the second try.

Rhondda came back well and Griffiths’ second try, again converted by Harris, helped them get back in the game, but poor passing let them down and didn't take the chances they had.

In the end, it took tries from Jarrod Hinnem and Rhys Davies, one converted by Thomas, to seal the victory.

Cardiff Blue Dragons leapt over Bridgend Blue Bulls in the table with a dominating win.

The capital club ran in 11 tries in an outstanding performance at the home of Wales’ most successful community side.

Duane Iles led the way for Cardiff with a hat-trick of tries, there were two for Jamie Leech with Daf Green, who also kicked seven goals, Dom King, Rhys Lewis, Lewis Bratcher, Jacob Brennan and Lewis Stansbury also crossing.

Scott Forrester, Xavier Manaseitava, Dai Griggs and Scott Walters scored the Bridgend tries with Gareth Howells converting twice.

Cardiff chairman Alf Harvey said: "Today showed that the ability is there and for the first time this season, we worked as a unit using strong communication skills. Let’s hope we can maintain this going forward."
