Big Week for Welsh Schools

6 Welsh sides in National Champion Schools this week

This Tuesday and Thursday sees no less than 6 Welsh school teams taking part in the first round of the National Champion Schools competition at Maidenhead RFC.

Last year’s Welsh winners are represented this year by Ystalyfera in Year 8, Glantaf in Year 9 and St John Baptist in Year 10.  Added to the representatives are Ystalyfera in Year 7 who won the Welsh final two weeks ago, in Caerphilly.

Glantaf have also had some good news.   As there are no South West representative sides at year 7 and 8 level, Glantaf will have their place in the competition at Year 7 and Year 8 as runners up in the Welsh rounds and will play the second best side from London and the South East.

Special thank go to Steve Guan at the RFL who has been able to rearrange the games so that Glantaf and Ystalyfera only have to travel to Maidenhead RFC once this week as normally year 7 and 9 games are played on one day and year 8 and 10 the other.

The full schedule of games is as follows:
