MORRIS HOPING TO FEATURE FOR WALES AFTER CALL-UP

Ben Morris will relish the chance to earn his first cap for Wales if he is picked against Jamaica at Belle Vue Stadium tonight (7.30pm kick-off)

Ben Morris will relish the chance to earn his first cap for Wales if he is picked against Jamaica at Belle Vue Stadium tonight (7.30pm kick-off).

The 19-year-old, who qualifies to play for Wales through his grandmother, has been called up to the squad for the Jamaica clash.

When the youngster received the call to come in to the international camp, he admits that it did come as a bit of a surprise.

"The squad [for the Qualifiers] was announced the other week, so I didn't think I'd hear anything off Wales," Morris said.

"I had a phone call off St Helens to say that Wales would be in touch and then I spoke to Bob Wilson (team manager), who asked me to come in to camp. I jumped at the chance.

"I thought I'd come down and see what the camp is like, but it looks like I could now be in with a chance of playing."

If St Helens-born second-rower does feature against the Jamaicans, he is going to give it his "best shot".

Morris said: "It's a chance for me to perform and give a good first impression.

"I want to bring as much to the team as possible and show what I can do.

"All the lads have been up to have a chat with me and welcomed me in to the squad.

"There are a lot of players who have played at a high level, so I'm hoping to learn a lot from them."
