West Wales Raiders first home game on Saturday

Both West Wales Raiders and Torfaen Tigers are looking for their first wins of the season this Saturday.

Both West Wales Raiders and Torfaen Tigers are looking for their first wins of the season this Saturday.

The Tigers face a tough trip to Gloucestershire All Golds to take on their reserve side. The All Golds have won two out of three this season and will want another victory to keep up with the pacesetters.

Meanwhile, the Raiders host London Chargers who are coming off the back of a mammoth 80-0 win over Coventry Bears Reserves last week.

Kick off at Parc Stebonheath on Saturday is 2.30pm and Raiders’ coach Jon Ellis can’t wait for their first outing in Llanelli this year.

“We are really looking forward to being back at Stebonheath on Saturday,” he said. “It's been a tough start to the season with an array of away games but we can finally hold our first home game of the season.

“To begin the day, we’ll be holding a trial for our under 15s before they begin in the Welsh Conference. We’ve had a great number of players wanting to be a part of the junior Raiders this season so to be fair we thought that a mini trial on Stebonheath before our first team fixture would be a great opportunity for them all.

“We have seen the recent scores in the league and understand that London are a very difficult team to play this year. We have trained well this week and shall have our final captain’s run just hours before the game to make sure all the boys are ready as soon as they step foot at the stadium.”
