Wales Appoint Under 16s Staff for 2016
New Staff Named
Wales Rugby League have officially named their new coaching staff for the upcoming under 16s 2016 season.
Head coach Wayne Ponting is joined by assistant coach Andrew Thorne and team manager Peter Tiffin.
All three members of staff have a strong association with the under 16s age group as both Ponting and Thorne head up the East and West Wales Junior Origin teams respectively with Peter also acting as West Wales team manager.
WRL Coaching and Performance Development Manager Jon Ellis praised the new coaching team upon their appointment.
He said: "Having seen the excellent work both coaches and management are delivering within the Junior Origin series, it makes perfect sense that the continuity remains throughout the under 16s age group and the players have familiar faces.
"We are also enthusiastic to see the coaching team develop as a unit, if the coaching team develop as a unit then the players are more likely to thrive.
"Both Wayne and Andrew are in key positions as they also get to see the best East and West players every weekend in camp in will be able to select the strongest available squad as they know the players personally."
Wales Rugby League will soon be recruiting a new coaching setup for the national under 18s side. Keep an eye on the website over the next few weeks for these advertisements.
