Young Crusaders pick up awards

North Wales Crusaders under 16s' fine 2015 season got even better recently when the team picked up two trophy’s at the North West Counties 16s – 18s End of Season Awards Presentation.

North Wales Crusaders under 16s' fine 2015 season got even better recently when the team picked up two trophy’s at the North West Counties 16s – 18s End of Season Awards Presentation.

The young Crusaders have had another hugely successful season in the English North West Counties League, finishing third in their division and finishing runners up in the U16s Plate Final. The first trophy picked up at the Awards Presentation was made to Crusaders prop forward, Morgan Shaw,  who was voted the U16s Player of the Season.  Morgan was nominated for the award by a significant number of opposition coaches.  The second award won by the Crusaders was The Hillary Steel Fair Play Trophy which is awarded annually to the U16s or U18s team with the best disciplinary record through the season.

Community Coach, Allen Jones, commented on the awards. “Morgan has had a very, very consistent season for us in 2015, putting in some high quality performances on a regular basis and never giving anything less than 100% in every game he plays, for opposition coaches to recognise one of our boys and nominate him for his outstanding performances is testament to the quality of player we have in this group. The award to the Hillary Steel Fair Play Trophy is a just reward for the team’s fantastic commitment and attitude. The boys play the game hard but fair and this is reflected in this award”

The team are already back in training ahead of moving up to the U18s section for the 2016 season.  New players are always welcome to join this talented squad and anyone interested in attending the weekly coaching sessions should contact Community Coach, Allen Jones on 07738 767272 or via e-mail at allen.jones@glyndwr.ac.uk
