Wales Dragonhearts name training squad for England

Wales Dragonhearts coach Dafydd Hellard has named an initial 24-man training squad for the one off test against England Lions on Saturday 28th November at Hindley RLFC in Wigan.

Wales Dragonhearts coach Dafydd Hellard has named an initial 24-man training squad for the one off test against England Lions on Saturday 28th November at Hindley RLFC in Wigan.

The first training session is this Sunday 11am-2pm at a venue to be confirmed.

The squad will be strengthened further this weekend when players from North Wales will join the southern-based players for trials with Mark Parry from North Wales RL assisting in the selection process.

Wales are looking for their first win over England in four years at this level so Hellard knows the importance of having a strong squad.

“Firstly I would like to congratulate the boys that have been selected to represent the Wales Dragonhearts this year,” he said. “They’ve not only impressed at this year’s origin fixture but they have been consistently good at club representative level in both the Welsh Conference and Conference South leagues. We're still looking to strengthen the squad when the North Wales boys turn up to train later this week.

“The Origin fixture showcased the talent that we have at community level and the turnout for both sides indicates the drive and desire these players have to represent their country. We only have a short time to prepare the squad to play against England, but I'm sure the players motivations won't be a problem. It's just up to myself, Andrew Thorne, Kyle Scrivens and team manager Peter Tiffin to get the boys ready.”
