Bridgend Blue Bulls and Aber Valley Wolves showed why they’re the top two in the Welsh Conference as they fought out a scintillating battle at Pyle RFC on Saturday.

The Bulls won 42-28 but they didn’t have it all their own way against a Wolves side that contained a number of debutants.

Seven different players scored Bulls’ tries with Huw Rosser, Dai Griggs, Joe Symons, Owen Thomas, Aled Cockwell, Mark Astley and Keiron Hooper all crossing once apiece, with Gareth Howells converting six and Lloyd Giles one.

Aber Valley equally spread the tries around with Lewis Willicot, Aaron Evans, Darryl Skym, Sion Jones and Gareth Hutcherson their try scorers with Connor Weigold adding four goals.

In a curtain raiser, Bridgend Blue Bulls’ under 13 side beat their Wolves counterparts 36-14 in a friendly match.

The Raiders’ feeder side, Gwendraeth Valley Raiders, were unable to travel to face Cardiff City B and forfeited the game 24-0 as a result.
