Wales Rugby League board member Chris Thair and international manager Bob Wilson travelled over to Keighley this week to pay tribute to Welsh International Danny Jones who passed away on Sunday of a cardiac arrest whilst playing for his club Keighley Cougars RLFC.
“The whole experience at Keighley Cougars was overwhelming as we put up the playing jersey from the World Cup next to hundreds of other rugby jersey’s sent from around the world in tribute to Danny," said Thair. “We spoke with Keighley Cougars Chairman Gary Fawcett in how we could best serve Danny’s wife Lizzie and their two young twins which left us with a few things to follow up on. Whilst nobody wanted to be in this circumstance the club, the community of Keighley and the rugby league family should feel proud in how they have reacted to this. This tragic event has galvanised a great spirit of purpose to ensuring Danny’s family are supported now and in the future."
