Wales Students release training squad for Dublin

Wales Students coach Latham Tawhai has released a 37-man training squad ahead of matches against England, Ireland and Scotland in the Student Four Nations in Dublin from June 14th-19th.

Wales Students coach Latham Tawhai has released a 37-man training squad ahead of matches against England, Ireland and Scotland in the Student Four Nations in Dublin from June 14th-19th.

The Welsh finished second in the annual Four Nations tournament in 2014 and, with a mixture of experienced and talented new players to the fold, will hope to go one better in 2015.

The squad includes players from the length and breadth of Wales, its borders and beyond, and includes Wales full international Morgan Evans and some of his fellow South Wales Scorpions first team squad members in Marcus Webb, Jordan Sheridan, Connor Davies, Curtis Davies, Rhys Davies and Osian Phillips.

Webb and the three aforementioned Davieses, along with other named train-on members Harry Boots and Alex King, all won bronze with Wales in last year’s Commonwealth Championships in Glasgow.

Tawhai said: “Over 60 students trialled recently at Taff’s Well and it was tough to reduce them down to this stage.

“We’ve a talented selection of players in Wales and I know it’ll be even tougher to get it down to the 20-man squad we need for the tournament.”
