Falcons and Bangor play friendly match

A Flintshire Falcons XIII and Bangor University recently played an exciting friendly match at Deeside Park with Bangor running out 52-36 winners.

A Flintshire Falcons XIII and Bangor University recently played an exciting friendly match at Deeside Park with Bangor running out 52-36 winners.

 

Early exchanges in loose set the tone for the first half with Bangor using their physical pack to dominate up front. Bangor’s loose forward was their stand out player running in a hat-trick of tries with the rest of side a supporting act at times.

 

Falcons with mix of youth and u21s tried to spread the ball to early at times which played into the university’s hands, although Falcons managed to cross the white-wash on three occasions showing their skill set in attack . (36-12 HT). 

 

The second half was a tighter affair with Falcons much tighter in defence and attack with their halves controlling the game. Falcons ran in a series of team tries to bring the score to 30-42, but in last 15 minutes as Falcons chanced their arm Bangor ran in three more tries to seal the victory. Although Falcons never say attitude carved open some great work through the forwards to finish with a six point score.

 

Flintshire Falcons RLFC are recruiting at juniors and under 18s and are keen to re-establish an open age side to play in a league structure in 2015.
