Wheelchair side looking forward to tournament

Wales Wheelchair Rugby League side will be looking to go one better than two years ago this weekend as they aim to win the British Isles Four Nations title in Medway.

Wales Wheelchair Rugby League side will be looking to go one better than two years ago this weekend as they aim to win the British Isles Four Nations title in Medway.

Wales came second to England in their Wheelchair Rugby League debut in that tournament and then followed this up in last year’s World Cup by finishing third after their historic two wins over Australia, the only time a full Welsh international side has ever beaten Australia in Rugby League.

Head coach Alana Sargent said: “We’re a team who is rebuilding and there is no pressure on our players as we go into this tournament. They’ve all trained hard, including a session in Medway today and they’re all now looking forward to the weekend.”

Wales Wheelchair RL team: Phil Bousfield, Andrew Higgins, Harry Jones, James Roberts, Mark Williams (all North Wales Crusaders), Adam Button (captain), Huw Chance (both Hereford Harriers)
