The final score does not do justice as to just how close a game this was until the final quarter of the game.  Played in hot and sunny conditions on Bradley Fields, both teams were committed to playing a fast and open game.

It was the visiting Dragons who were quickest out of the blocks, scoring two early tries to take a grip on the game early on.  To their credit the Raiders worked their way back into the game which made for a very entertaining and exciting first half of Rugby league which ended 20 – 26 to the visiting Dragons.

The Raiders made a great start to the second half putting the Dragons under plenty of pressure which made for a pulsating third quarter of the game with the teams trying desperately to gain the upper hand on each other.  The game was too close to call as it entered it’s final quarter but the Dragons went on to dominate possession and field position and ran in four unanswered tries to win comfortably in the end.

Community Coach Allen Jones was quick to praise both teams “Both teams deserve great credit for putting on a real good, positive game of Rugby League which was played tough but in a great spirit. It was also good to see both teams give opportunities to a number of young players as well, which bodes well for the future.  Cai Boden and Elan Davies of the Dragons showed up particularly strongly."
