After a comprehensive showing against Swansea University a fortnight ago, the South Wales Rugby League Academy side, based at Maesteg School, take on the South Gloucester College RFL Academy side this Wednesday in the first of three fixtures this season to determine 'Supremacy across the Severn'.

The South Wales side is being completely selected from the new Academy at Maesteg School which has already shown to be a great success in its first full term.

The fixture is being played at Maesteg RFC's famous Old Parish stadium with a 2pm kick off this Wednesday 18th December. Free entry for all so please come and support the stars of the future. For those not able to come, please follow the live updates on the WRL and South Wales Scorpions Twitter accounts.

This squad is part of a strong programme from WRL that underpins the South Wales Scorpions senior side in 2014.

There will be an under 14s programme in South and West Wales where these two representative sides will face each other twice. The under 16s will have eight games – six against Super League opposition.,

The under 18s, based at Maesteg School will have college fixtures, two before Christmas, this game on Wednesday being the second, then a few more after Christmas. In March, a wider group of players will then be formed for a Scorpions under 19s side who will play in a new South of England under 19s competition. There will also be internationals at 16s and 18s.
