PAUL Emmanuelli will captain Wales Dragonhearts in their Home Nations opener against England Lions on Sunday at The Gnoll, Neath (kick-off: 1pm).

The team, announced on Monday evening, will see outstanding hooker Martin Luckwell as vice captain and includes another Valley Cougars ace in flying wing Dan Davies among a total of seven players from the current South Wales Conference table-toppers.

And, for the first time, there are four North Wales players in the Dragonhearts side to make it a true Welsh team.

Head coach Mike Grady said he is extremely excited ahead of the game, with some big players like ex-South Wales Scorpions man Neil Dallimore, named in the party.

Grady said: “I think it looks very strong. There were either way calls for selection with some players and it is a shame some missed out. There are four North Wales lads in which shows their strengths up there now.

“Training yesterday (Sunday) was very good. We worked on our structures on a defensive side of things. The lads wanted to get involved. We have probably got the toughest start of the Four Nations because England have been together since January and we have only had two sessions but the lads have taken everything on board.

“We have clever players like Dallimore and (Jordan) Sheridan and I did not expect the great standards of these players of the last two weeks.

“We are going to be big going forward and if Martin (Luckwell) can get on the back of that at dummy half, it will be great. We are going to Cardiff on Saturday and have a last run then. It will be tough against England and they will be fired up but so will we.”

Victory will set Wales on course for the title with matches in August against Ireland in Limerick and Scotland in Colwyn Bay to come.
