Why did you become an official:
I reffed rugby union for a number of years. Gradually I became dis-illustioned by the ill-discipline shown towards refs by club officials and players. I have always enjoyed league and if I were a few years younger I would play, but the next best thing, I think, is reffing. Having had a season in the Conference there was no problem with club officials or players, there was always a physicality not normally experienced in union but all matches were played in a sportsman-like manner. I would urge anyone reading this to consider taking up the whistle and get involved in reffing league. It's very intense but most enjoyable.
