UNDER-18S GO DOWN TO LAST GASP DEFEAT
08th September 2012, 17:30
CHRIS Leyshon went over for try hat-trick in Caerphilly but it was not good enough to prevent South Wales Scorpions Under-18s from going down to a 36-30 defeat by Salford City Reds on Saturday afternoon. The Welsh side went over six tries, with Jack Condy, Connoer Farrer and Kylum Austin getting the other three touchdowns. Lewis Barnett added three goals. And, after leading 18-8 at half-time, it looked like the WRL-backed Under-18 side would secure victory to add to the win they had against Castleford Tigers last Saturday. But with the last play of the match, Salford went over for a try and added the conversion with saw them secure the win.
The players now go off to their various international sides, and head coach Dan Clements said: "It was a really good performance and is something we can build on for the long term. Just a shame we lost."
