Wales name most of Student World Cup squad

14th March 2017, 6:28

Wales Rugby League have named 19 of their 24-man Student international squad ahead of the Student World Cup in Australia in July.

Head coach Latham Tawhai is 100% certain about these squad members so has named them early so they can begin their fundraising, as each player needs to pay his own way to the World Cup, be it through sponsorship or donations.

Tawhai said: “We're pleased to be able to name the first 19 of our 24 man squad.

"It's a great privilege for anyone to represent their country at a World Cup so I'm pleased for these guys as they have thoroughly deserved their places.

"It does of course leave five places open which there is a great deal of competition for so we'll continue to train with an extended squad giving all those involved an opportunity to make the final squad."

The Student World Cup is being played in and around Sydney, Australia between July 7th-16th.
