In a repeat of every Student Four Nations Championship since 2004, it will be the encounter between Wales and England that should decide the title when it takes place this Friday.

Wales, winners in 2004, 2009 and 2012 and runners up to England in 2006, 2010, 2011 and 2014, will be looking to even the scores from the last 12 seasons after beating Scotland 34-7 in their second match of this series on Tuesday afternoon in Bray.

Wales were 8-6 up at the break after a very tight opening period.

The Scots took the lead on 14 minutes through centre Charlie Leaske with Finn Murphy converting but two tries in four minutes, both of which went unconverted, put Wales into a slender driving seat. Tom Davies, who missed Sunday’s win over Ireland, scoring the first, with Marcus Webb going over from the first set after kick-off.

Tom Davies went over from his second and Wales’ third of the game, just two minutes after the interval with Matt Davies converting to give Wales an eight point lead.

The Scots found it difficult to break the Welsh defence as they looked to narrow the two try cushion. Ryan Lee cleverly played possession rugby and kicked a drop goal to give his side time to regroup and attack again.

However the ploy didn’t work and Wales soon extended their lead. Fraser Robinson scoring the next try with Matt Davies converting before adding a penalty to increase the gap to 15 points.

Wales weren’t finished there. Josh Williams and James Gahan both added tries, each converted by Matt Davies.

England take on Ireland this evening in an attempt to go back to joint top alongside the Welsh (kick-off 6pm).
